First, I opted against a reconstruction out of worries about the healing process and the 'maintenance' or complication risks in the years to come. D ODr Harry Salinas, M.D. is a gift! Without doubt, he is one of the best breast reconstruction plastic surgeons today. My case was complicated because I had developed a plethora of autoimmune diseases since having my silicone breast implants placed following surgeries and chemotherapies for breast cancer. From day one, my implants caused me pain. For nine years, I had forgotten what it was like to take a deep breath without experiencing discomfort. Dr Salinas’ skills as a surgeon are truly magical and his dedication and empathy shine through as a beacon of hope for all breast cancer patients. He was throughly prepared, aware of any possible complication that could arise as a result of my autoimmune disorders both during and after the surgery and was dedicated to removing all the silicone that had breached the implant shells. The eleven hour surgery, (capsulectomy and DIEP flap breast reconstruction), was a success, without complication and I am now twelve weeks out and feeling great! Going into a surgery such as this it is important to have complete confidence in your team. With Dr Salinas I had total confidence! His care makes you feel as though you are his only patient and sole priority. He is compassionate, intelligent, understanding and patient. Judith K.I met Dr Salinas after a failed reconstruction with another plastic surgeon, I had a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy in November 2016 with immediate implant reconstruction which failed, then I underwent 3 more surgeries and many office procedures ending in staying flat on my left breast for more than a year until I met Dr. Salinas. Honestly he performed a miracle, I had lost a lot of skin and had a lot of scar tissue due to my previous failed surgeries. He understood that I did not want to go through a complicated surgery involving flaps and was confident that he could put a new tissue expander, expand really slow and then proceed to exchange the expander for an implant. It has been 10 months since Dr. Salinas exchange the tissue expander for an implant, change the implant on my right breast to match and did fat grafting as well. He literally hold my hand every step of the way, was calm, listen, answered all my questions, took his time to explain everything that he was going to do and was very emphatic. I strongly recommend Dr. Salinas and his staff, believe me, I consulted many plastic surgeons in Miami, Broward and even out of State before deciding to try my reconstruction again...
