What Is Kybella?
Kybella uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a compound that is used to break down fat in the digestive system. When injected into the submental fat under the chin, it attacks the fat cells, destroying them. The fat from the cells is absorbed into the bloodstream but removed permanently from the treatment area. Kybella is FDA-approved for treatment of the double chin and removal of submental fat without surgery.

Chin liposuction surgery can remove submental fat, but it is more invasive and requires more downtime. Patients will receive multiple injections each treatment, which are spaced at least one month apart.
