Wrinkle Treatment

Facial wrinkles and fine lines are inevitable. Exposure to UV rays, aging, genetics and other factors all contribute to under eye wrinkles, forehead lines and small facial folds. While you cannot stop the aging process, there are ways to combat the lines and wrinkles on your face. At HMS Plastic Surgery, we offer effective wrinkle treatment options that can help you retain a youthful appearance without surgery at our center in Miami, FL.

Wrinkles are the product of degeneration of the skin, lost volume under the skin and sun damage. As you age, your body produces less collagen and elastin. Collagen makes up about 80% of the skin structure, which means it becomes thinner and less firm when it dwindles. Sagging skin can cause wrinkles, which is common under the eyes where bags and wrinkles form. Creases from muscle movement can also cause lines in the face, like the nasolabial folds and the frown lines on the forehead.

Treatment for Static Lines and Wrinkles

For lines and wrinkles caused by sagging or thinner skin, there are a few different options in non-surgical treatment. Facial filler injections can add volume to plump and smooth wrinkled skin, which is wonderful for under eye wrinkles or nasolabial folds around the nose and mouth. Other options include treatments that spur the production of collagen, including microneedling, laser resurfacing, chemical peels and biologic injections.

Treatment for Forehead Lines and Crow’s Feet

Worry and frown lines on the forehead and crow’s feet around the eyes are dynamic lines. These are caused by muscle movement and do not always disappear with facial fillers and other wrinkle treatments. One of the most effective treatments for dynamic lines on the brow and on the outside of the eyes is Botox® or other neuromodulator injections. These injections relax the muscles that cause frown, worry and eye smile lines, reducing their appearance.
